Our Approach to Adult Therapy
We work with a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, EMDR, validation therapy, reminiscence therapy (especially for Aged adults), and Individual-Focused Gottman Couples Therapy when only one partner attends.
These approaches are aimed at fostering insight, developing skills, processing past hurt, and addressing a variety of concerns, from managing anxiety and depression to attachment and interpersonal issues.
The Therapy Process
-
All individual sessions are 50 minutes long, with options for extended sessions if needed, though this are usually reserved for intensive trauma work or when clients find it difficult to open up. In the early stages, sessions typically occur weekly or fortnightly, providing content-rich psychoeducation and foundational skills.
As progress is made, session frequency may extend to fortnightly, then monthly, or longer, as clients consolidate gains and prepare for discharge. We aim to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable exploring sensitive issues.
