Michael Spark

Michael Spark is a Clinical Psychologist providing individual psychological services to adolescents and adults, with experience across a broad range of diagnoses, client populations, and contexts.
This has included working with international and domestic students as a University Counsellor, providing therapy in geriatric services, and working in a not-for-profit child disability service. His work history was in the mining and steel industries before transitioning to being a carer with various disability and residential youth services, and a research assistant.
Humour is an important element of Michael’s personal style and he hopes to bring a little lightness to our sessions especially when we explore places that might feel dark and terrifying. His hobbies include rock climbing, freediving, and motocross.
Michael’s approach is to value going at the client’s speed, full transparency, and humour; all of which are viewed as integral aspects of approaching difficult subjects.

Michael is trained in Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), EMDR 2.0, CBT-Enhanced (CBT-E) for eating disorders, Reminiscence Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Gottman Couples Therapy (level 3 trained) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Michael has an extensive work history as a carer, in residential youth work and disability care. His volunteer history includes youth mentorship, humanitarian aid within rural and remote Australia, Junior Motocross and Perth snorkelling groups.
