EMPLOYER SPONSORED VISAS

Australian  or overseas businesses who have been unable to fill job vacancies from the local labour market can sponsor overseas workers to fill skill positions in Australia. Few categories under employer sponsored visas are: Subclass 457 Visa and Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS).

The Subclass 457 Visa benefits both employers and employees by providing:
  • Flexibility for employers to sponsor skilled overseas workers on a temporary basis for a period between 3 months for up to 4 years. After 4 years, the visa may be extended by applying a new application to the DIAC
  • Employers may hire overseas skilled workers with a minimum of formalities of local labour market testing
  • Skilled workers may wish to live and work in Australia on a temporary basis, before deciding to apply for migrating permanently
  • Skilled workers are able to bring their dependent family members during the terms of the assignment
  • Reduced skill and salary requirements may be available if the position vacancy is in regional Australia
WHAT IS EMPLOYER NOMINATION SCHEME (ENS) ?

ENS or Employer Nomination Scheme is a permanent employer sponsored visa which allows skilled workers from overseas (or temporary residents currently in Australia) to live an work permanently in Australia.
The Subclass 457 Visa benefits both employers and employees by providing:
  • Recruitment options for employers to find highly skilled employees from overseas to develop and expand their business
  • A competitive advantage for employers to attract or retain the best talent of skilled workers who are from overseas or temporary residents currently in Australia
  • Overseas skilled workers secure a full time employment and permanent residence through an employer sponsorship
  • ENS is an alternative option for overseas skilled workers to secure permanent residency in Australia, as they may not be able to qualify for a permanent residency under the general skilled migration stream
WHAT IS PROCESS FOR OBTAINING A SUBCLASS 457 VISA AND ENS ?

There are three-stages process for sponsoring a skilled overseas worker to work in Australia on a temporary basis for up to 4 years under the Subclass 457 visa as follows:

Step 1: Sponsorship application for the business

Step 2: Nomination application   - relating to the position to be filled
